I have been creating art from the time I could hold a crayon or pencil. The need to put on paper what I saw in my world was a constant drive. In grade school my classmates would line up wanting drawings for class projects. In junior high I would turn around and draw portraits of kids behind me instead of doing class work. Naturally I took all the art classes throughout school that I could and always excelled in them. I received letters of recommendation from art teachers and developed a portfolio. |
I have taken an eclectic route in my art education, choosing various courses of study with different instructors at the college and university level as well as private instruction and continuing education. It has afforded me a wide range of exposure to the techniques that I specifically wanted to learn. |
My passion is the human form and face. My children have served models many times throughout their lives. My mediums of choice are oil paint, chalk pastel and charcoal. The interpretation I can achieve with the textures, dramatic intensities and colors of these mediums gives me the greatest freedom in communicating this interpretation. |
I do several festivals and art events a year. I draw portraits on the spot as well as sell original art and prints. I do many more commission pieces privately in my studio or in peoples' homes. |
